When SIT returned from Perdido Key with John and Mary Ann
the weather decided to improve a bit so we could do some work around the swamp.
The time John and Mary Ann spend in Florida goes by quickly
and they have a lot of vegetation to deal with during that time. Steve and I
offered our expert skills at swamp logging. You are probably wondering how we
became experts in this field I bet. Well, we had gloves and could stack brush
so we met the requirements!
Steve provided the lift for John to reach high into trees
that he needed to trim along the road into their place. The purpose was to
allow the delivery of the new storage shed, plus go ahead and thin some thick
brush and remove some dead trees. Mary Ann and I were the swampers for the
logging operation.

We had help from the dogs by hanging out in the truck.
Pretty soon Smokey decided he needed to run the equipment so he got into action
and helped John with the piling of the brush so the piles would burn. I was
thankful for the brush piles a few days later when the freeze hit so my feet
could thaw out!

The Warming Fire Yay!
We finished our logging work Sunday morning so we took the
afternoon off. The storage shed was being delivered Monday morning so we wouldn’t
be doing anything electrical until that afternoon which meant we had time to
hang loose and play with the dogs.
As it turned out John’s brother and his son came over with
their dogs. Why not as more the merrier made Izzy, Lily, and Smokey happy. When their neighbors’ dogs, Helen, Anna and
Who, came over too we had 11 dogs romping around the water.
Don't you have anymore treats?

John entertained them with water toys and floppies to the
water and Mary Ann provided the spa treatment for Molly and Lily. Actually it
was a bath but don’t tell them that.

The sun came out for a while so it wasn’t quite as cold and
felt good, although we didn’t want to venture into the water.
