January 15-21, 2015
Bonita Springs played host to SIT for a week. The city’s
nickname is “Gateway to the Gulf” and as you drive around the area you can see
why they gave it that name.
We started out our time here with a visit from Cindy. We
decided to head to Sanibel Island and show her the J.N. “Ding” Darling National
Wildlife Refuge. Steve and I had toured it when we were in the area last year
and knew she would enjoy it as well.
Unfortunately we discovered it was closed to the auto tour
so couldn’t quite show her all the cool areas, but we did spend some time in
the visitor’s center and then we could take a trail with the hope to see some
birds.
We did find a few hanging out which was nice although they
didn’t quite cooperate as much as I would have hoped for photo opportunities!
The other exciting thing we did was play golf. Well, I guess
it isn’t exciting since we try and play at each location. Except this time
something new happened.
Keeping Warm
Scenic Hole
If you recall from the post I did for our time in Marathon I
shared that Steve almost made a hole-in-one. If I had a ruler I think it would
have shown the ball was an inch from going into the hole. The course we played
in Bonita Springs had many par 3’s which gave a person a few chances to repeat
what Steve did in Marathon.
Hole 17 on the course happened to be where I made a
hole-in-one! It was so fun to watch it land on the green and roll into the
hole. I am glad I had a witness to this event even though he said I had to buy
him a beer! This is my first one and I am hopeful I have more to come!

First Hole-in-One
Steve's Shot Isn't Too Shabby
I Am Going To Save This Ball!
Maybe the next time you hear from us there might just be
another hole-in-one story!
